The $ESTIMATION record is a NONMEM control record, giving control information regarding the Estimation Step. It contains a number of options for making different choices, and the meaning and impact of these choices can be confusing.
This talk will try to introduce a little more clarity about some of the more important choices. For a very brief synopsis of all the options, please see the NONMEM help item: $ESTIMATION, (which contains mainly a synopsis of the syntax of the control record). For a technical discussion see NONMEM Users Guide VII, on aspects of which this talk will be based and also provide an extension.
